Ice bath
Ice bath and cold plunge builder in Pekanbaru
Timber tubs with a ½–1 HP chiller that holds 3–15 °C all day, sized for warm Riau tap water.
An ice bath from us is a timber cold plunge with a ½–1 HP chiller that holds 3–15 °C all day, with no ice deliveries. Built for gyms on Jalan Sudirman, physiotherapy clinics in Sukajadi and family terraces in Panam. Indicative price IDR 45–90 million installed, or IDR 25–55 million for a chiller alone; one to two weeks.

Who is buying an ice bath in Pekanbaru, and why?
Search for ice bath Pekanbaru and the results come from Bali. The demand, though, is here: gyms along Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Soekarno-Hatta adding paid recovery, physiotherapy clinics in Sukajadi and Payung Sekaki treating athletes and knee injuries, running groups training on the stadium track, and families in Panam whose household includes someone who comes home from a plantation site stiff and overheated.
In a city that spends the day at 30–34 °C, two or three minutes in 8–12 °C water is the fastest way to bring core temperature down after training. What we build is a permanent tub, not a folding plastic tank refilled with block ice, and it works either paired with a dry sauna for the contrast routine or standing alone in the corner of a changing room.

Why does 29 °C tap water change the plunge chiller you need?
This is the single biggest difference between building a cold plunge in Riau and building one in a cool climate. Mains and borehole water arrives at 28–30 °C, the room around the tub is 30–34 °C in the afternoon, and every person who gets in adds their own heat. The plunge chiller has to remove all of that and still hold the target, so we size it from measurements rather than a brochure figure.
| Position | Tub volume | Target | Chiller |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indoors, air conditioned, one user | 300–400 litres | 10–12 °C | ½ HP |
| Shaded terrace, one or two users | 400–500 litres | 5–10 °C | ¾–1 HP |
| Gym, users in sequence all day | 500–600 litres | 3–8 °C | 1 HP plus insulation |
The tub is insulated and lidded when idle, the chiller stands in shade with free air around it, and on estates near Duri that run on a generator we add a soft start so the compressor does not drag the voltage down when it kicks in.
Tub, filtration, drainage and the running cost
The body is larch or thermowood on a stainless frame with a waterproof liner inside, so the timber never absorbs water. Water circulates through a filter and is treated with ozone or UV, which means changing it every few weeks rather than every day; a gym tub gets larger filtration and a shorter change interval. The floor under the tub is laid to fall towards a drain and the dump valve goes on the side you can actually reach.
Electrically it is light work: a ½–1 HP chiller draws under a kilowatt while running, on its own breaker and ELCB separate from any sauna heater. Power and water together come to roughly IDR 300,000–700,000 a month depending on the target temperature and how often the lid comes off. A worked commercial example is in our gym recovery zone project, and every figure is on the price list.

Frequently asked questions
Do I still have to buy block ice?
No. The chiller holds the target temperature continuously. Ice is only needed if you want to go below 3 °C for a specific protocol, which is exactly why people move from a folding tank to a permanent plunge.
Can it stand outside on a terrace in Panam?
Yes, if the spot is shaded and roofed. Direct sun roughly doubles the chiller's workload. Keep the lid on when the tub is not in use, put the chiller where rain cannot reach it, and fall the terrace floor towards a drain.
What does the chiller cost to run each month?
Around IDR 300,000–700,000 including the filtration pump. An air-conditioned indoor tub at 10–12 °C sits at the bottom of that range; a gym tub at 5 °C with users all day sits at the top.
How long does installation take?
One to two weeks from material arriving: tub and liner, pipework and drain, chiller and filtration, then a temperature-drop test with you present before handover.
