Five layers from outside in: board, mineral wool, a taped foil sheet, an air space, then cedar. The foil and the air space are what keep the corners of a Riau cabin pale instead of black a few wet seasons later.
Every heater gets heat-resistant SiHF cable, its own breaker and an ELCB. Recent Panam developments often already sit at 7,700–11,000 VA; on an older meter you either upgrade or go infrared at 1.7–2.4 kW.
Tap and borehole water both arrive hot in this city. Tank size, room heat and how many people use it decide whether you need a ½ or a 1 HP chiller to hold 3–15 °C through the afternoon.
Inside: western red cedar, Scandinavian spruce or thermowood, on aspen or abachi benches. Ulin and bengkirai stay outside on the decking, and any cabin standing in the open gets a proper roof over it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know which of these actually fits my space?
Start with power and footprint. A dry cabin needs real amperage and at least a 1.5×1.2 m footprint; an infrared box needs neither and drops into a spare corner. A steam room needs a wet-rated space with a drain, and a cold plunge just needs shade and a drain of its own. Send a photo of the corner and your PLN meter through the contact page and we will tell you plainly which of the six fits.
How often does any of this need servicing in Riau?
Roughly once a year for a home sauna — heater stones checked and re-stacked, vents cleared. Ice baths and steam generators want more attention: filters and descaling every few months given how hard the local water runs. Sites in constant commercial use move to a quarterly visit instead of yearly.
Our water comes from a borehole — does that change what you build?
It changes the chiller and generator sizing, not the design. Borehole and mains water both arrive warm here, often mineral-heavy too, so cold plunges get a larger chiller allowance and steam generators get a filter and a shorter descaling interval than the same kit would need on softer water elsewhere.
