Who should choose an infrared sauna in Pekanbaru?

Three groups, mostly. Households on an older 2,200–5,500 VA supply where a PLN upgrade is slow, expensive or blocked by the shared board of an old terrace near Sukajadi. Apartment and townhouse residents in the Sudirman corridor with a spare corner rather than a spare room. And people who simply prefer a gentler session: 45–60 °C is comfortable enough to read in for half an hour, which suits older users and anyone who finds 90 °C hard going in a city already at 33 °C.

The mechanism is different from a dry sauna and worth understanding before you choose. An infrared sauna heats you rather than the air, so the room stays mild while your skin warms. There is no water on stones, no steam, no billowing heat when the door opens. Many clients end up with both: an infrared cabin indoors for weekday evenings and a full cabin outdoors for the weekend.

Why does an infrared sauna avoid a PLN upgrade?

Arithmetic. A four-person dry sauna needs a 6 kW heater and therefore a 7,700 VA supply. An infrared cabin draws 1.7–2.4 kW, roughly what an air conditioner and a kettle use together, so it sits inside an existing 2,200–5,500 VA connection with room to spare. We still give it a dedicated circuit with SiHF cable, its own breaker and an ELCB, because a wet-skinned person in a timber box deserves proper protection whatever the wattage.

That single fact decides many projects in the older parts of the city. Where the meter cannot move, the choice is an infrared cabin or nothing, and we would rather install something that works than sell a heater the house cannot feed. If your supply is 7,700 VA or better, we will tell you honestly that a dry sauna gives a stronger session for the money.

Cabins, panels and installation in a day

The cabin body is spruce or hemlock with a tempered glass front, sized from 1×1 m for one person to about 1.2×1.5 m for two. Carbon panels sit behind the back rest, at calf level and beside the shoulders, so the heat reaches you evenly rather than roasting one side. A digital controller sets temperature and session length, and lighting, a towel rail and a backrest come as an accessory set at IDR 1.5–8 million.

Installation is genuinely quick: the cabin arrives in panels, the crew assembles it, the electrician runs the circuit, and we test it with you the same or the next day. Running cost is the lowest of anything we build, around IDR 100,000–250,000 a month even with daily use. Frequently asked questions

Is an infrared sauna the same as a dry sauna?

No. A dry sauna heats the air to 70–90 °C at 10–20 % humidity; an infrared cabin holds 45–60 °C and warms your body directly. Different sensation, different power demand, and neither replaces the other.

Will it work in an air-conditioned room?

Yes, and that is often the best position in Pekanbaru. Cool filtered air around the cabin makes the session more pleasant and keeps the room dry. Leave 10 cm of clearance behind the cabin for air movement.

How much does it cost to run?

Around IDR 100,000–250,000 a month with daily use, the cheapest of anything we build. There are no stones to replace and no water system to service.

Can I add a cold plunge to it?
