What exactly is a prefab cabin, and who tends to order one?
Everything on a prefab cabin is finished before it ever leaves Marpoyan Damai — panels with the insulation, foil and vent gap already built in, benches cut, door hung, heater bracket fixed, cabling loomed ready to go. On site, the crew simply bolts the panels together, wires in a dedicated circuit and runs the first heating. No demolition, no wet trades, no dust tracked through the house.
Three situations tend to lead here. A household after a home sauna without gutting a bathroom to get it. A rental or a mess where anything permanent does not make sense, since a prefab cabin unbolts and moves with you. And a company equipping several staff houses on one estate to a single spec, where identical cabins cost less and service easier than five custom ones. It is not a tent or a plastic sweat box — the walls, timber and heater come from the same parts family as our full dry sauna.
Sizes, sauna price and what actually turns up on the truck
The usual sizes run from a one-person cabin at roughly 1×1 m, to a two-person at 1.5×1.2 m on a 3.6 kW heater, up to a compact four-person build. Delivered and installed, that is indicatively IDR 15–35 million; move up to a full custom two-person cabin in pine with nicer fittings and you are at IDR 55–70 million. What lands on the truck is the cabin in panels, the benches, the door with its 8 mm tempered glass, the heater with its stones, the control unit and a full cabling kit.
Access matters more than raw size. Panels are built so two people can carry them up a normal staircase or through a side gate, which is exactly why a prefab cabin suits a first-floor room in a Panam cluster or a terrace tucked behind a downtown shophouse. At the survey, we measure the tightest point of the route in, not just the room it ends up in.
Wiring a prefab cabin onto a smaller supply
Most people choosing a prefab cabin are doing it precisely because the house has a modest meter. A 3.6 kW heater for a two-person cabin runs inside 5,500 VA, as long as that room's air conditioning stays off while it heats. A one-person build can run a 2.4 kW element comfortably on 3,500 VA. Go above that — a four-person cabin at 6 kW — and you are back to a PLN upgrade to 7,700 VA, filed and paid for by the owner.
The wiring standard holds regardless of price point: heat-resistant SiHF cable, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB, all tested before handover. If your meter genuinely will not move, an infrared cabin at 1.7–2.4 kW is the honest alternative, and we will say so rather than sell a heater your house cannot actually feed. Frequently asked questions
Can a prefab cabin run safely off camp generator power?
Yes, with the same precautions as any heater on a generator: we check the load, add a soft start where the unit calls for it, and keep the ELCB on its own circuit rather than sharing it with lighting or pumps. Mention the generator's rating when you message us and it goes into the spec from the start.
Does a prefab cabin need different upkeep from a built-in one?
No — the wall build-up is identical, so the maintenance is too: stones checked and re-stacked roughly once a year, vents kept clear, the door seal inspected. The only practical difference is that a prefab cabin's panel joints are easier to get behind if something ever needs attention.
Ordering ten units for a work camp — can that come with one service contract?
Yes, and it is the more sensible way to run it. One specification across every cabin means one spares list and one technician visiting the whole camp on a single trip, rather than ten separate call-outs. Will the panels fit through a normal doorway or up a tight stair?
In almost every case, yes — panels are sized so two people can carry them through a standard door or up an ordinary staircase, which is why a prefab cabin works for first-floor rooms in Panam clusters and shophouse terraces alike.
