Steam room

Steam rooms for homes, gyms and hotels in Pekanbaru

Fully tanked mosaic rooms at 40–45 °C and 100 % humidity, with an imported steam generator.

A steam room holds 40–45 °C at close to 100 % humidity, so it is gentler on breathing than a dry cabin and popular with families. We build them turnkey: full waterproofing, floor falls, mosaic, a sloped ceiling and a 6–9 kW generator. For homes in Marpoyan Damai and for gyms and hotels on Jalan Sudirman. Indicative IDR 50–100 million, three to five weeks.

What does a turnkey steam room include in Pekanbaru?

Everything from the bare wall inwards. We strip the space, tank it completely, form the floor falls to a drain, build a ceiling with a deliberate slope so condensate runs to the walls instead of dripping on your head, tile it in mosaic, fit the bench, the tempered glass door and the lighting, then install and commission the steam generator with its own water feed and drain. You get a finished room, not a generator in someone else's bathroom.

Two by two metres is the common size for a home installation, seating three or four; a gym or hotel wet area is usually larger and gets a bigger generator and a faster drain. It is the wettest thing we build, so the waterproofing detail is where the quality actually lives — behind the mosaic, where you will never see it, and where a cheap job announces itself two rainy seasons later with a damp patch on the far side of the wall.

Why does a steam room suit Pekanbaru's climate and its gyms?

People who dislike dry heat often love steam. At 40–45 °C the air feels soft, breathing stays easy, and a fifteen-minute session leaves you loose rather than wrung out. That matters in a city already sitting at 80–90 % humidity, where the appeal is the warmth and the ritual rather than the shock. Families in Panam and Bukit Raya build them beside the bathroom; guests use them without instruction.

Commercially it is the item that fills a wet area. A commercial sauna for hotels and gyms in the Sudirman corridor typically means wet and dry cabins side by side, with a plunge between them, because that combination keeps a member in the recovery zone for half an hour instead of five minutes. Those builds start indicatively at IDR 150 million and take four to eight weeks; the layout question is worked through in our guide to gym and clinic recovery zones.

Generator, water and the electrical supply

A 2×2 m room needs a 6–9 kW steam generator, which puts it in the same electrical bracket as a mid-size dry sauna: 7,700–11,000 VA, SiHF cable, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB. Larger commercial rooms go to three phase. As always the PLN upgrade is the owner's application and cost, and we schedule the commissioning for after the new supply is live.

Water is the extra service. The generator needs a clean feed and a drain, and Pekanbaru's borehole water is often hard enough to scale a tank, so we fit a filter and set a descaling interval at handover rather than waiting for a fault. Monthly running cost, water included, is roughly IDR 300,000–600,000. Full figures sit on the price list, and a dry alternative on the dry sauna page.

Frequently asked questions

Steam room or dry sauna for a family house?

Steam if anyone finds dry heat hard to breathe or the room has to double as a shower space; dry if you want a stronger, faster session and simpler maintenance. Households that use both usually build the dry cabin first.

How long does the build take?

Three to five weeks, longer than a dry cabin because tanking and tiling have to cure and set in sequence. Rushing the waterproofing is the single most common cause of the leaks we are later asked to repair.

What maintenance does the generator need?

The tank is drained and descaled on a schedule we set from your water quality, and the filter is changed with it. One visit a year for a home room; quarterly for a busy gym.

Can you repair a leaking steam room built by someone else?

Often, yes. We open the failed area, check the tanking and the falls, and quote a renovation at an indicative IDR 15–50 million. Send photos through the contact page and we will tell you honestly whether repair or rebuild is the better spend.
