Sauna price list for Pekanbaru: what a build actually costs
These are the real numbers for a permanent cabin with an imported heater, not the sauna price of a steam tent from a marketplace listing. Every figure below is indicative and in IDR, and includes installation inside Pekanbaru; the fixed quote follows the free survey. Work in Duri and Dumai carries travel and accommodation for the crew.

What moves the sauna price up or down in Riau
Two cabins of the same size can differ by tens of millions. These are the lines we itemise so you can see what you are paying for.
- People and size. Going from four to six is not just more timber: it is an 8 kW heater and an 11,000 VA supply behind it.
- Interior timber. Pine is the lightest on the budget, red cedar sits in the middle, thermowood lasts longest in Riau humidity. Aspen or abachi benches at every grade.
- Heater and controls. A manual Harvia against a Sawo or Tylö with a digital panel and remote start is several million rupiah before the electrical question.
- Glass. One tempered glass wall is affordable; two look superb and demand a larger heater.
- Where the work happens. A first-floor room with a narrow staircase, a terrace that first needs a roof and decking, or a bathroom that has to be stripped out.
- Electricity. A long SiHF run from the board, a three-phase connection, and the PLN upgrade itself, which the owner applies for and pays directly.
- Chiller size. A tub on a Panam terrace in 29 °C water needs 1 HP and insulation; an air-conditioned indoor tub is happy on ½ HP.
- Distance and generators. Freight from Java, plus toll charges and crew accommodation for Duri and Dumai, and soft start and separate ELCB work where an estate runs on its own generator.
What we never trim: rockwool, the foil vapour barrier, the vented gap and the ELCB. A cabin without them looks identical on handover day and fails two years later. The construction detail is on the dry sauna page.
What it costs to run each month
PLN bills by the kilowatt hour, so the figures below assume three or four sessions a week; daily use sits at the top of each range.
- Dry sauna, 3.6–9 kW: IDR 200,000–500,000 a month.
- Infrared cabin, 1.7–2.4 kW: IDR 100,000–250,000.
- Steam room with a 6–9 kW generator, water included: IDR 300,000–600,000.
- Cold plunge with a ½–1 HP chiller and filtration: IDR 300,000–700,000.
Annual maintenance is light: heater stones checked and re-stacked, chiller filters cleaned, steam generator descaled. Our technicians cover all of it in one visit from Marpoyan Damai; for an ice bath in a gym we set the water-change interval from user numbers.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a quote from Java cheaper on paper?
Because it usually excludes freight, flights and two to four weeks of crew accommodation, all of which appear later. Our team lives in Pekanbaru, so the only distance cost is material freight from Java, and it is in the quote from the start.
Does the price include the PLN upgrade?
No. An upgrade to 7,700 or 11,000 VA is applied for in the owner's name and paid to PLN. We calculate what you need, prepare the internal cabling, breaker and ELCB, and wait for the new supply before the test heating.
How does payment work?
A 50 % deposit once the quote and schedule are agreed, then a second payment when material reaches the site, before assembly. The survey, measurements and visualisation are free; book one through the contact page.
Do prices change for Duri and Dumai?
The cabin price does not; travel and accommodation are added as separate lines. We batch surveys and installations there into the weekly run along the toll road to keep that figure as small as possible.
